Due to the expansion of the number and complexity of communication equipment used on current Fire Appliances, an increased demand has been placed on the main vehicle batteries with a subsequent increase in main vehicle battery failure. Therefore, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have decided to fit an auxiliary battery capability that is designed to solely support the communication equipment and wish to appoint a Contractor to carry out this retrofit service.
