Smoking is the biggest driver of inequalities and is far more common in people with a long-term mental health condition when compared to the general condition. CBMDC Public Health would like to commission a provider to support smokers to quit or reduce harm within 5 Community Mental Health Teams across Bradford and District. The provider will employ two whole time equivalent smoking cessations advisors to support people to start their smokefree journey. The advisors will provide behavioural support and treatment for up to 12 weeks in line with the standard treatment programme. Treatment will be processed through Quit Manager and delivered by council’s contracted suppliers. The cost of medication will be covered by CBMDC Public Health and all outcomes will be recorded on Quit Manager. The onsite advisors will also support staff in establishing referrals pathways and providing them with the confidence to start conversation around quitting smoking or cutting down with patients.
