NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands CSU (AGCSU) on behalf of NHS England and NHS Improvement - Midlands Region (referred to as the Commissioner) are inviting suitably qualified and experienced providers to deliver Personal Dental Services in Oswestry, Shropshire. The contract is for an initial period of 7 years with the option to extend for a further 3 years. The contract start date will be 1st October 2019. It is anticipated that the annual contract value will be £622,560.00 per annum based on 24,000 commissioned units of dental activity (UDA's). NHS legislation and regulation, together with NHS England and NHS Improvement - Midlands Region area team require that the dental services, premises and facilities shall: a) Open as a minimum for the core hours of 09:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, with additional hours to meet patient access expectations and to enable the delivery of 24,000 UDA’s (Units of Dental Activity) during the financial year. b) Meet local access requirements, fulfil equality and diversity requirements and meet the needs of the identified patient groups. c) Provide excellent access for patients including those with disabilities in line with the Equality Act 2010. Reside in modern, clean, suitably sized and sound proofed premises that provide at least one ground floor surgery or a lift to the second floor as a minimum d) Ensure parking is available either “on site”, council or private pay and display car park in the vicinity including adequate disabled parking for patients to use when visiting the practice and be in a location that must be easily accessible to patients arriving on foot or by public transport. Dental health tends to be mirror the affluence and deprivation of an area. Within Oswestry town, two areas are within the most deprived 20% nationally and a further two are within the 30% most deprived nationally. Overall, poorer oral health would be expected in the population of these areas.
The local population who will access the services reside in the town wards of Cabin Lane, Cambrian, Carreg Llwyd, Castle, Gatacre, Maserfield, Victoria and the local rural surrounding area.
