Relocation of London Fire Brigade Museum
London
The existing London Fire Brigade Museum is currently located in Winchester House within the Southwark Training Centre Site at 84, Southwark Bridge Road, SE1 0EG. The museum collection is displayed over 3 floors with larger exhibits in a ground floor appliance bay. There several storage rooms in the basement and on
the 2nd floor. The museum is open to the public with around 11,200 visitors per year and it contains around 20,000 objects ranging from 5.5 tons appliances to small buttons.
The London Fire Brigade is in the process of selling the whole of the site and the museum will be relocated into a purpose built facility at 8 Albert Embankment, SE1 7DD but the facility there will not be available for some 3 to 5 years. In the interim period all of the collection needs to be packed, removed from site, kept in secure storage . When the new museum facility is available transport to the new facility, assist in unpack items required for display and place remaining items in new facilities store. The Authority will consider its options and award to one of the three lots available.
