Short description
Peel Ports owns and operates six of the UK’s most important ports (Port of Liverpool, Heysham Port, Manchester Ship Canal, Medway (Sheerness / Chatham), Clydeport (Greenock, Hunterston, Ardrossan) and Great Yarmouth. It also operates a container terminal in Dublin.
In support of its ongoing operations, Mersey Docks and Harbour has completed a regulated procurement competitive tender process, working in collaboration with our client to design and build a new warehouse at our Birkenhead site.

Description of the procurement
1. Enabling Works Contract:-
a. Break out existing slabs and foundations
b. Process material ready for re-use in the main development
c. Undertake a Ground Penetration Radar Survey
d. Undertake a UXO Scan
2. Main Contract:-
a. Full design and build of a 15,250m2 (154,000 sq ft) warehouse
b. Contractor to be Principal Designer (PD) and Principal Contractor (PC) under CDM 2015 Regulations
c. Ground preparation and foundation works
d. Warehouse frame, cladding and roof lights
e. Associated power, water and waste connections
f. External lights, surfacing, barriers, bollards and fencing
g. Office, showroom, trade counter and welfare facilities (i.e. including full Cat B fit-out to meet the Tenant requirements.)
h. Canopy over the loading area
i. Car park including EV charging, signage and white lining
j. Photovoltaics and battery storage
k. Small scale diesel fuelling tank
l. Warehouse to be designed and built in line with current building regulations and Peel Ports Group HSE Fire Safety requirements
