Description of the procurement
The Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Collaboration (RAICo®) is a collaboration programme being set up by Sellafield Ltd (SL), Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), University of Manchester and the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA). It is initially a 3-year programme of technology development. It is focussed on delivering and proving underlying robotics and artificial intelligence technologies that are required for effective decommissioning, as well as providing deployment opportunities to have maximum operational impact.
Using robotics and AI in hazardous nuclear decommissioning environments will provide the step-change in capabilities needed to move towards a cheaper, faster, and less hazardous set of next generation decommissioning activities.
The programme is managed by UKAEA’s Remote Applications in Challenging Environments (“RACE”) facility.
This prior information notice (PIN) covers 4 of the thematic areas of the RAICo Programme and is seeking interest from both Industry and Academia who will provide the products and services to support the delivery of the RAICo’s Programme’s strategic objectives which are:
Operationalisation of “this Generation” robotics into the nuclear sector.
Developing remotely operated solutions for decommissioning and future fusion power,
Developing intelligent customer and supply chain capability / capacity,
Positive socio-economic impact in Cumbria
The 4 thematic areas in scope for this PIN are detailed in the attached document which includes an online application to express an interest in attending the event to meet RAICo personnel and, to receive all further details of future contract opportunities.
