The optical interferometry group in the department of Physics and Astronomy is undertaking the development BIFROST, a new instrument for the Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI). As part of this development process the group is procuring two photonics devices, each containing two Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) to function as the beam combining device within the BIFROST instrument. This project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement No 101003096).
