Short description

The PCC for Merseyside is seeking to work in partnership with an organisation, or organisations, to deliver support for victims and survivors of Harmful Practices. The term Harmful Practices refers to forms of violence committed primarily against women and girls in certain communities and societies where it is accepted as cultural practice (National Gender Based Violence & Health Programme, 2017). They have often been embedded in communities for a long time and are born out of community pressure. The OPCC’s evidence review suggests that this is a growing area of victimisation in Merseyside, and that it has significant psychological impact upon victims of such practices.
