UKAEA
Design, Manufacture & Supply of Large Commissioning Sample Under Test (LCSUT) device.
The LCSUT design measures approximately 1.67x0.46x0.8m, and sees a modular construction as follows. First, the front section is made up of an array of OFHC copper heat sink blocks, each cooled with a steel cooling pipe. A middle steel section contains cartridge heaters suitable for up to 100kW internal heating and features integral cooling channels. Finally, a massive ‘rear’ section of the CSUT is uncooled and is constructed of
ferromagnetic steel. The foreseen manufacturing processes are CNC machining, deep-drilling, vacuum brazing, welding, and forming/pressing.
This market enquiry relates to the manufacture of the CSUT as a single supply, with the scope to include detailed design for manufacture (production of build-to-print drawings), manufacturing, acceptance testing, and delivery to the UKAEA site in Yorkshire, UK. The UKAEA is requesting suppliers with experience in the manufacture of similar systems to advise on suitable manufacturing process options, their feasibility, and associated costs and lead times.
