Short description

Dynamic network management (DNM) delivers a systems thinking capability to our drainage area teams. To put it simply it collects data from our assets, third party assets and the environment. Real time transfer of that data to a central location. Application of descriptive, diagnostic and predictive analytics to identify any deviations in the system that are likely to result in a loss of volume the network. The ultimate goal to understand the complete network, its constituent parts within the broader system and how we ensure it delivers exceptional services to customers whilst protecting the environment.

Description of the procurement

In order to achieve this vision by 2022 UU will need to deploy c. 20,000 monitors into the sewer network including monitoring the performance of c. 3,000 pumping stations.
The monitored points would be the following:
Rain Gauge
Sewer Level Monitor
CSO
Pumping Stations Simple Monitoring
Pumping Stations Advanced Monitoring
Pumping Stations Pro-Active Monitorig
Detention Tank Pumped Return (offline)
Detention Tank (in sewer)
Storm Water Tank (WwTW)
United Utilities is exploring new ways of working with suppliers in acquiring such data and less traditional commercial models – to that end, information is requested from suppliers who have the ability/experience in delivering some or all of the above data in a Data as a Service (DaaS) model.
Particular interest would be in suppliers who could maintain a data network comprising of multiple data sources utilising multiple technologies from across the market providing a data through subscription.
Reponses are requested on the Case Study Competency Matrix enclosed, appendices are permitted up to 1 side of A4 per case study (font size 12).
