Short description

Greater Manchester Combined Authority requires a contract for the provision of secure kennelling for dangerous dogs.
Greater Manchester Police has an operational requirement to provide temporary accommodation and essential veterinary care for dogs seized under the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) and in respect of animal welfare offences, until the resulting case has been through the court process.
A dog may be seized by GMP:
• because the animal is (or is suspected of being) a banned breed;
• because the animal is considered to be dangerously out of control;
• because the animal has injured someone or there is a genuine belief that it might injure someone; or
• in respect of an animal welfare offence.
Suppliers awarded a contract following this tender may be asked to:
• provide secure accommodation for dangerous dogs seized by GMP;
• provide or arrange for veterinary treatment for dangerous dogs in their care; and/or
• destroy or arrange for the destruction of dogs.

Description of the procurement

Greater Manchester Combined Authority requires a contract for the provision of secure kennelling for dangerous dogs.
It is intended that the resultant contract will be awarded to up to 4 (four) tenderers. However the Authority reserves the right to award to less than 4 suppliers where this best meets the needs of GMP.
