Scope of research The research will need to cover a number of areas: Aims and Objectives of Research • To explore male victims of sexual assault experiences with research specific to Hertfordshire • To identify the extent to which victims of male sexual assault are aware of their entitlements under the Victims Code of Practice • To explore the experiences and impacts of male victims of sexual assault • To explore support needs and requirements of male victims including: • Entry to services • Ongoing support and preferred support channels • The importance of gender specific support services • Support requirements of partners and other family members • Peer support • The importance of choice regarding male or female support workers • To assess the actual or perceived barriers that prevent victims accessing victim support services they are entitled to. • To provide an evidence based template of good practice to inform the development of a referral and care pathway • Where possible, to establish the extent of prevalence in the county and to establish a baseline.
