Short description
Each year, United Utilities produces circa 450,000 tonnes of sludge through its Wastewater Treatment Works across the region. 300,000 tonnes of this is recycled to agricultural land and 150,000 tonnes is burnt through the Company’s incinerator based at Shell Green.
This treated Sludge is known as biosolids.
Lot 1- Scheduled Services
The scope of this lot is for the provision of Biosolids Transportation and Associated Services across the companies 14 Waste Water sites
Lot 2 Reactive Services
The scope of this lot is for the provision of a reactive services for biosolids produced above the scheduled services at the Company's Shell Green site

The requirement of this agreement is to manage the loading, transportation, unloading, stockpiling, land management and stockpile management for the reactive services at the company's shell green site.
Lot 2 reactive services consists of the reactive service provided at the Company’s Shell
site In the event of a breakdown of the sites incinerator when additional sludge is being produced above the predicted volume managed as part of the lot 1 scheduled services
