The building is a large multi classroom building on two storeys and built around an internal quadrant. There have been several adaptions and additions since the main building was erected in the mid 1960’s (original plans dated 1965). The building is currently mothballed following last year’s decant, in preparation for demolition. There is known asbestos in the building and the existing management survey has been provided along with the management plan. A R&D asbestos survey was commissioned by the client in November 2022 attached as an appendix. The ceilings in the sports hall and main hall were not included in this survey due to limited access, therefore it is possible that this survey has not identified ALL asbestos containing materials in the building. The Asbestos Removal and Demolition contract will need to complete an R&D Asbestos survey of the ceilings in the sports hall and main hall prior to demolition.
