Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (the Council) is looking to establish a contract with a Provider for a respite service, providing residential respite to adults with a learning disability and/or physical disability (including sensory impairment). To provide a building based residential respite to adults with a learning disability and/or a physical disability (and sensory impairment) based on the fundamental principles of rights, independence, choice, inclusion and safety. This service will be offered to adults with a learning disability and /or physical disability (and sensory impairment) aged 18 and over, living in the Barnsley area; • Who’s Carers have been assessed as eligible for short breaks from their caring role under the current Carers assessment process. • Who are currently living with Shared Lives Carers who are eligible to a break from their caring role. This service will NOT include: • People who are currently supported to live independently • People who are currently living in a provision where the carers are commissioned to provide a service The Council is holding a pre-market briefing session on 8th September at 09:30am, interested parties are encouraged to register an interest to attend.
