Dear Sir/Madam,
We are pleased to invite you to tender for 75014: Lining of Rainwater Fall Pipes at Leeds Central Library.
The project is to carry out repair and refurbishment works to create community hub space within the Grade II* listed Leeds Central Library building as described in the tender documentation. Relining of rainwater 4No internal fall pipes, roof to mains drains over 5No floors [basement to 3rd floor], with pipe entries/exit at floor/ceiling levels to be fire stopped by others.
NOTE: The scope of works has changed from those originally envisaged and specified within the main body of these documents, the clients’ consultants have advised revised specification will be issued as soon as possible, however in order not to delay project costings an outline specification has been issued
Specification of Downpipe Liner:
NOTE: Relining of drainage are specialist work and require to be a contractor design.
Specification of Downpipe Liner:
- The Principal Contractor is to appoint a specialist contractor to carry out the relining of the downpipes identified on the tender documents.
- The specialist contractor is to propose a suitable lining method of these downpipes which gives a minimum product guarantee/warranty of 10 years and submit to the Contract Administrator/Designer for approval.
- The specialist contractor is to be approved by the manufacturer of the lining for carrying out the installation with their product.
- The specialist contractor is to clean and prepare the downpipe according to the lining manufacturers current instructions.
- The new downpipe liner is to be full length without joints to ensure integrity.
- The specialist contractor is to install a full liner in accordance with the applicable British Standards and the product manufacturer’s current instructions.
- Where the lining intersects with an incoming junction, drain or sewer and at the roof outlet, the lining shall form a permanent watertight seal against the incoming pipe to prevent water penetrating between the liner and downpipe.
- The rehabilitation shall not result in localised discontinuities that have the potential to impede flow, cause additional flow turbulence, or promote the deposition of solids.
- Where pipe liners have been installed, they must be inspected and tested for effectiveness. The methods to be employed including, but not limited to:
- visual inspection;
- CCTV Inspection;
- Techniques as required by product manufacturers
The testing must be witnessed by the Contract Administrator/Clerk of Works
- Upon completion of the lining works, all product and workmanship warranties and guarantees must be provided to the Principal Designer and Contract Administrator so that they can be included within the O&M and H&S files
