Adopting a whole family approach in a Violence Reduction context - Research

We are looking to appoint a research partner to explore the adoption of a whole family approach to tackle root causes of serious violence. Within our Serious Violence Response Strategy Refresh, we highlighted our commitment to adopting a whole family approach which draws on the involvement and support in developing positive relationships of the whole family as part of the response to risk factors and enabling protective factors. Evidence from our portfolio of research last year has further emphasised the importance of investing in projects that support both parents and young people, aiming to develop positive family relationships and on building trusting relationships more widely. This additional piece of research should explore how a whole family approach can be adopted and incorporated into various interventions in a violence reduction context. While the evidence base for taking a whole family approach is fast becoming well established, the purpose of this research will examine the practicality of undertaking and adopting a whole family approach. In doing so, this work will help to guide existing providers in West Yorkshire on how they can successful implement a whole family approach in their provision.
