PR56 - Provision of an RMO Service (Resident Medical Officer)

The trust require an RMO to be an integral part of the team (including the arrest team) responsible for the provision of medical care to patients on a routine and emergency basis in wards E, G & H and adults in the Treatment Centre. It will be expected that the appointed RMO will need to discuss and inform with the relevant medical, surgical and ITU Registrar, or to call the patient’s consultant directly via switchboard for severe cases, if any patient deteriorates in ward E, G, H or the Treatment Centre according to the modified early warning track and trigger system (MEWS). Assisting in the management of all patients and provide backup support to the surgical registrars, junior doctors and consultants. The RMO shall maintain accurate and detailed assessments of each inpatient when called to do so by the nurses, and to make complete, clear and legible medical records of the events with each patient. To clerk patients (excluding the clerking of children presenting with trauma) as requested who are being admitted to the wards.
