MED2091 - Supply of microbiology specimen containers

The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is an Acute Trust, providing a wide range of hospital services such as Accident and Emergency, Surgical, Medical Specialities, Therapy Services, Maternity and Paediatric Care. The UHNM Microbiology Department provides a comprehensive UKAS Accredited service for the UHNM, approximately 140 surrounding GP surgeries and peripheral hospitals. The Tender is for the provision of Microbiology Specimen Containers to include; 25ml labelled Universal specimen container with red top and containing boric acid (200,000 estimated annual usage). 25ml labelled Universal specimen container with a white cap (400,000 estimated annual usage). 25ml labelled faeces collection container with spoon (40,000 estimated annual usage). 70ml labelled sputum collection container (60,000 estimated annual usage). 16mm labelled primary urine tubes (preferably red cap) with boric acid to include a simple collection device to get the sample in the tube (200,000 estimated annual usage). This option will only be taken if budget allows. The estimated contract value is expected to be £150,000 (£30,000 per annum); this figure based on the estimated usage provided in the specification document. The activity figures detailed in the specification are estimated only for guidance and UHNM gives no guarantee of the actual volume of requirements during the period.
