The Testing of Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ Valves)

Introduction

The Council requires a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to undertake annual compliance testing of Type BA Device – Verifiable Backflow Preventer with Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ Valve).

All installation work and compliance testing on RPZ Valves must be carried out in accordance with ‘The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999’ and with the Water Suppliers’ Approved Method Statement ‘AIM-08-01 Issue 2 (2020)’. 

The Contractor shall be responsible for providing all drawings, service manuals, manufacturer information and instructions required by their staff to carry out an installation, repair and on-site commissioning and compliance testing of RPZ Valves.

The Contract will be awarded to one Contractor.

Contract Length

The contract will be for an initial period of 3 years. After which the Council reserves the right to extend the Contract for a further 3 x 1 year periods. The decision to extend the Contract will be based on:

  • continuing need and funding for such services
  • satisfactory performance within the initial contract period
  • prices remaining acceptable to the Council

Contractors must be prepared and able to commence servicing the contract from the contract start date of 1st April 2025.

Contract Values

The anticipated value of the contract is £15,000 p.a.
