The Mayor of West Yorkshire carried out a public consultation exercise between 10 October 2023 and 07 January 2024 for people to have their say on how buses should be run in West Yorkshire. This gave two options; • To proceed with the proposed Franchising Scheme • To enter into an Enhanced Partnership + agreement between the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the bus operators within West Yorkshire The Mayor’s decision on 14 March 2024 was to proceed with the proposed Franchising Scheme. Following this, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority need to provide the bus depots capable of delivering the Franchising scheme, across the 10 proposed areas, or lots, of West Yorkshire. One of the ways the depots could be provided is by acquiring the current depots. There are currently a number of depots that the West Yorkshire Combined Authority would consider suitable for delivering the Franchising scheme. In order to determine the suitability of these depots, and the value, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority are looking to commission condition surveys of each of these depots, and the land that the depots are situated on.
