Short Breaks for Disabled Children Befriending Support Service Framework - Sheffield

Befriending service is a fixed term intervention providing one to one support for children and young people temporarily unable to engage with group-based services. The aim of this service will be to work with the child/young person to enable them to work towards their individual objectives (outlined in their care plan) and aim to reduce the level of one to one support require; to enable them to access group-based provision. Short Break Services are an essential part of a continuum of support for parent/ carers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). They include leisure or educational activities out of school hours, at weekends, during school holidays, or during the evenings.
