The East Riding of Yorkshire Council monitors air pollution as part of their duties under Part IV of the Environment Act 1995. This is undertaken using a network of 92 diffusion tubes measuring nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and one newly installed automatic sensor monitoring NO2, nitric oxide (NO), ozone (O3), PM1, PM2.5 and PM10. The Council is seeking to expand their network of automatic sensors and to provide a web portal to allow members of the public and other stakeholders to access data and to make informed decisions about how to reduce their exposure to poor air quality.
