The Combined Authority’s submission to the DfT Capability Fund will expand on the comprehensive behaviour change programme we are already delivering through our dedicated cycling and walking programme, CityConnect. This funding will widen access for people across West Yorkshire to activities and facilities that will help them to become more active as part of their daily lives. As part of this funding, the Combined Authority will be delivering a behaviour change programme focussed on enabling more people to make more journeys by bike or on foot. The objective of this programme is to support people to benefit from the new infrastructure being delivered as part of the Active Travel Fund, as well as new infrastructure being delivered through other funded programmes, such as the award winning CityConnect programme, which aims to make cycling and walking the natural choice for everyday journeys. The behaviour change programme will be delivered through the Combined Authority’s CityConnect programme, in partnership with our Partner Councils across West Yorkshire. We will be looking to develop further the activities delivered as part of the programme since 2014, as well develop new initiatives. We are looking to work with a delivery organisation who can support us to engage with target schools and employers across West Yorkshire to enable more journeys to be made on foot.
