A0547 - Equine Forage

GMP are seeking to award a contract for the supply and delivery of Equine Forage, including hay, haylage and spring barley straw. The Mounted Unit of GMP has an establishment of approximately 20 horses, stabled at the Hough End Centre in South Manchester. The unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the horses are required to work a variety of shifts. On average, the horses work undersaddle 2-4 hours a day, 6 days a week, mainly walking on roads. They are predominantly hunter types and stand between 16.2hh and 17.3hh. The diet of the horses is roughage based, consisting of haylage, alfalfa and a balancer. They are predominantly stabled on rubber mats with a shallow layer of bedding, which is currently chopped rape straw, and with minimal access to turnout.
